Description
The Knightsbridge GDM001U is a 20AX 2-way single pole grid module in white UREA finish, designed to clip into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames (sold separately) for custom switch plate layouts. The module measures 24.8mm wide by 56.3mm high, allowing multiple modules to be combined horizontally within a single frame to create bespoke switch configurations.
Designed for residential and commercial installations where flexibility is needed, the grid system allows electricians and installers to build custom switch plates mixing different module types—switches, dimmers, sockets, data ports—within one frame. The 2-way single pole configuration controls a single circuit from two locations, suitable for hallways, stairwells and rooms with multiple entry points. The 20AX rating handles resistive loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains.
The module clips into position from the front of the mounting frame, eliminating the need to remove the entire plate for replacement or reconfiguration. The white UREA finish provides a hard-wearing, scratch-resistant surface that resists discolouration better than standard ABS plastics. The ABS body and steel terminals give the module durability under repeated switching cycles, and the IP20 rating confirms suitability for standard dry indoor environments.

Frequently Asked
What mounting frame does this module require?
The GDM001U clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, sold separately. Frames are available in 1-module, 2-module, 3-module and larger configurations depending on the number of modules you need to combine in one plate.
What is a 2-way single pole switch used for?
A 2-way single pole switch controls a single circuit from two locations. This is the standard configuration for hallways and stairwells where a light needs to be switched on at one end and off at the other. It differs from intermediate switching (3-way) which requires three or more switch points.
Can the module be removed without removing the entire plate?
Yes. The module clips into the mounting frame from the front, so it can be removed and replaced without taking the frame off the wall or disconnecting the back box wiring.
What back box depth is needed?
A minimum 35mm back box depth is required for safe installation of the module and frame assembly.
