Description

This Knightsbridge 20AX retractive switch module is a single-pole 2-way momentary switch designed to clip into grid-style mounting frames. The switch is marked PRESS on the rocker and returns to its off position when released, making it suitable for controlling door releases, stairwell lighting timers, garage door openers and other momentary-action circuits. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains.

Designed for use within Knightsbridge's modular grid system, the module clips from the front into compatible mounting frames (sold separately), allowing electricians to build custom switch plates combining multiple modules — switches, sockets, dimmers and data outlets — in a single faceplate. The white UREA finish matches standard white wiring accessories and grid frames across the Knightsbridge range.

The module measures 56.3mm high by 24.8mm wide, occupying one standard grid module space. Installation requires a minimum 35mm back box depth behind the mounting frame. The ABS construction with internal steel contacts provides the mechanical durability needed for high-cycle applications such as door entry systems, where the switch may be pressed dozens of times per day.

Frequently Asked

What does retractive mean?

A retractive switch is a momentary-action switch that returns to its off position when you release it. Press it once and the circuit activates; release it and the circuit de-activates. This differs from a standard latching switch which stays in the on position until you press it again.

What mounting frame does this module require?

This module is part of Knightsbridge's grid system and clips into any compatible grid mounting frame. Frames are sold separately and are available in various finishes and grid configurations (1-module, 2-module, 3-module, 4-module etc.). The module occupies one grid space.

What applications is this suited to?

Retractive switches are commonly used for door entry releases, stairwell timer switches, garage door controls, panic buttons and other momentary-action circuits where you need the switch to activate only while held down.

What back box depth is needed?

The module requires a minimum 35mm back box depth behind the grid mounting frame. This is the standard UK single-gang back box size.
