Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way retractive SP module is a single pole momentary switch rated at 20 amps, housed in a matt black ABS and steel construction measuring 56.3mm high by 24.8mm wide. The module clips into the front of Knightsbridge Grid mounting frames (sold separately) without tools, forming part of a modular wiring system where multiple modules combine into a single faceplate.
Designed for installations requiring momentary circuit control rather than latching on/off, the retractive mechanism returns the switch to the off position when released, making it suitable for door release systems, stairwell lighting timers, bell pushes and temporary control applications. The switch rocker is marked PRESS to indicate the momentary action. The 20AX rating handles resistive loads up to 4,600W on 230V circuits, which is higher than standard 10AX or 16AX modules.
The matt black finish on the ABS rocker matches other modules in Knightsbridge's Grid range, allowing coordinated multi-gang faceplates combining switches, sockets, dimmers and data modules behind a single screwless or screw-fixed cover. The module requires a 35mm minimum back box depth and carries IP20 ingress protection, restricting use to dry indoor locations. Knightsbridge backs the module with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between retractive and latching switches?
A retractive switch returns to the off position when you release it, providing only momentary contact while pressed. A latching switch stays in the on position until pressed again. Retractive switches suit door release systems, bell pushes and timer controls where you need temporary circuit activation.
What mounting frame does this require?
This module clips into Knightsbridge Grid mounting frames, which are sold separately and available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and larger configurations. The frame fixes to a 35mm minimum back box, then modules clip in from the front without tools.
Can I mix this with other Grid modules?
Yes. Knightsbridge Grid modules are designed to mix within a single faceplate, so you can combine this retractive switch with standard switches, sockets, USB outlets, dimmer modules and data modules on the same mounting frame.
What does 20AX mean?
20AX indicates a 20 amp rating. On 230V circuits this handles resistive loads up to 4,600W, which is higher than standard 10AX (2,300W) or 16AX (3,680W) modules. The single pole (SP) designation means the switch controls only the live conductor.
