The Knightsbridge 20AX grid toggle switch module is a single-gang, 2-way single-pole switching module finished in antique brass, designed to clip into compatible modular grid mounting frames. The module measures 24.8mm wide by 56.3mm tall, occupying one grid position in standard Knightsbridge grid systems where multiple switches, sockets or dimmers are mounted side-by-side in a single faceplate.

Grid systems suit installations where switch configurations need to be customised beyond standard gang layouts, or where multiple control types (toggles, rockers, dimmers, sockets) need to sit in a single plate. The 2-way switching allows the circuit to be controlled from two locations, while the 20AX rating handles lighting loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains. The module clips into the grid frame without screws and can be reconfigured or replaced individually without rewiring the entire plate.

The antique brass finish shows a darker, oxidised patina compared to polished or brushed brass, giving a heritage look that pairs with period properties, traditional joinery and warm-toned interiors. What is a grid switch module?

A grid module is an individual switch, socket or dimmer component that clips into a separate mounting frame to create a custom multi-gang plate. Rather than buying a fixed 2-gang or 3-gang plate, you select the exact combination of modules you need and assemble them into a grid frame of the appropriate size.

What mounting frame is required?

This module occupies one grid position. You need a compatible Knightsbridge grid mounting frame and grid faceplate sold separately. Frames are available in 1-gang, 2-gang and larger configurations to hold multiple modules side-by-side.

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows the same light or circuit to be controlled from two different switch locations, such as a hallway light switched from both ends of the corridor. This requires a second 2-way switch wired in parallel.

Can the module be reused if the plate configuration changes?

Yes. Grid modules clip into the frame without permanent fixing, so you can remove and reposition them or swap them into a different frame configuration without re-terminating the wiring.
