20AX 1 Gang 2-Way SP Grid Toggle Switch - Matt White

The Knightsbridge 20AX 1-gang 2-way SP grid toggle switch is a modular component designed to clip into compatible grid mounting frames (sold separately). The switch module itself measures 24.8mm wide by 56.3mm tall, fitting a single-gang aperture within a larger grid plate. The toggle rocker is finished in matt white ABS with a premium-grade steel construction behind.

Rated at 20AX on 230V 50Hz mains, the switch handles lighting circuits and motor loads up to 4,600W. The 2-way single-pole configuration allows the same circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations, typical for landing lights, hallway circuits and staircases. The module clips onto a grid frame which then fixes to a 35mm minimum back box depth, giving a total projection of approximately 20.5mm from the wall once installed.

The matt white finish provides a neutral tone that pairs with white walls and light-coloured interiors without introducing a colour accent. The grid system allows multiple switch and socket modules to be combined into a single faceplate, creating bespoke control panels tailored to specific room requirements. What mounting frame is required?

This module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, sold separately. Grid frames are available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and larger configurations depending on how many modules you need to combine in a single faceplate.

What does 2-way SP switching mean?

Single-pole (SP) means the switch breaks only the live conductor, not the neutral. 2-way means the switch can be paired with another 2-way switch to control the same circuit from two locations, typical for staircase or hallway lighting.

What load can it handle?

The 20AX rating allows the switch to handle resistive loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains. This covers typical domestic lighting circuits and some motor loads, but always check the total load on the circuit does not exceed this rating.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the module is not rated for moisture exposure. It can be installed in bathrooms outside the defined wet zones (typically zone 3 or beyond), but not within reach of a shower or bath where water ingress is possible.
