Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant 2-gang back boxes behind a white thermoset resin faceplate with a 9mm square-edge profile. The plate includes screw cap covers that hide the fixing screws once installed, giving a clean finish on the wall.

Designed for residential, commercial and light industrial installation, the blanking plate provides a safe and compliant way to close off back boxes that are no longer in use or where sockets, switches or data outlets have been removed during rewiring or renovation. The IP20 rating confirms the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations. The square-edge design aligns with other Knightsbridge square-edge accessories when mixing blanking plates with live sockets and switches on the same wall.

The thermoset resin construction resists impact, scratching and discolouration better than standard thermoplastics, making the plate suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, offices and hotel rooms. The anti-microbial properties are 3rd-party tested to ISO 22196:2011, meaning the surface inhibits bacterial growth between cleanings. The plate fits any standard UK 2-gang back box with 60.3mm vertical screw centres. It covers both metal and plastic back boxes, and both flush and surface-mounted boxes.

Is the plate fire-rated?

Thermoset resin is inherently more fire-resistant than standard thermoplastics, but this plate is not certified for use in fire-rated enclosures. For fire-rated applications, check Knightsbridge's Metal Clad or specific fire-rated ranges.

What does anti-microbial mean in practice?

The surface inhibits bacterial growth between cleanings, tested to ISO 22196:2011. This makes the plate suitable for healthcare, hospitality and food preparation environments where reducing surface bacteria is a priority.
