Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket adds one USB-A and one USB-C charging port behind a polished brass screwless faceplate with a white insert. The single-pole switching breaks the live connection when the socket is turned off, while the USB ports remain powered for continuous device charging.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25-35mm back box depending on wiring conditions and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The built-in gasket around the edge of the plate sits flush to the wall once fitted, hiding any gaps between the socket and plaster. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

The polished brass finish provides a warm metallic surface that works well in traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The white insert behind the brass faceplate gives a clean contrast around each outlet aperture and matches white rocker switches in the same room. The dual USB ports share a 5V DC 4.0A output, allowing simultaneous charging of legacy USB-A devices and newer USB-C phones, tablets and accessories.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed in straightforward wiring conditions. If multiple cables enter the box or if the ring main has thicker cable, a 35mm depth may be required to accommodate the wiring comfortably behind the socket.

What is the USB charging output?

The USB-A and USB-C ports share a combined output of 5V DC 4.0A. When both ports are in use, the 4.0A is shared between them. When only one device is connected, it receives the full output available from that port type.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The polished brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without disconnecting any wiring.

What is the difference between SP and DP switching?

SP (single-pole) switching breaks only the live connection when turned off, while DP (double-pole) switching isolates both live and neutral. For most residential use, SP switching is adequate. DP switching provides additional isolation for high-draw or sensitive appliances.
