The Knightsbridge CU9001 is a 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with twin earth terminals and outboard rockers, fitted with a white rounded edge 7mm plate treated with an anti-microbial finish tested to ISO 22196:2011. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances.

Designed for residential, commercial and healthcare installation, the socket uses outboard rocker switches positioned above each outlet aperture for easier accessibility compared to inline switches. What are twin earth terminals and when are they needed?

Twin earth terminals provide two separate earthing connection points instead of one. This is useful when rewiring older buildings where multiple earth cables converge, or in commercial installations requiring specific earthing configurations. Residential installations typically use a single earth terminal.

What does outboard rocker mean?

Outboard rockers sit above each socket outlet, rather than being positioned inline between the two outlets. This gives easier thumb access to the switches and makes them more visible, which matters in care homes, healthcare settings and locations where users have limited dexterity.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 7mm plate projection adds minimal wall thickness once the socket is fitted.
