Description
The Knightsbridge SN9000 is a 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with twin earth terminals, certified to ASTA License No. 1412 and BS 1363-2:2016+A1:2018. The white thermoset resin faceplate has a 9mm square edge profile with a built-in gasket and anti-microbial surface protection tested to ISO 22196:2011, making it suitable for commercial kitchens, healthcare facilities, schools and other high-traffic or hygiene-critical environments.
The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances and equipment. The twin earth terminals allow two earth cables to be connected to a single socket, supporting high-integrity earthing configurations commonly required in commercial installations, IT environments and installations with metal-clad accessories.
The socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses top-access captive terminals that allow cables to be inserted and secured without removing the faceplate from the wall, speeding up installation and maintenance. The square edge design sits flush with the wall surface with no visible gap between plate edge and wall, giving a clean finish on plastered and drywalled surfaces. The 13A rating handles standard appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet. Knightsbridge backs this socket with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What does ASTA approval mean?
ASTA certification (License No. 1412) confirms the socket has been independently tested and meets British Standard BS 1363-2:2016+A1:2018 for safety, durability and electrical performance. ASTA is a UKAS-accredited testing body recognised across commercial and residential electrical installations.
Why does this socket have twin earth terminals?
Twin earth terminals allow two separate earth cables to be connected to the same socket, supporting high-integrity earthing configurations required in some commercial installations, metal-clad accessory systems, and IT environments where redundant earthing paths are specified.
What is the anti-microbial protection?
The thermoset resin faceplate incorporates anti-microbial agents tested to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibit bacterial growth on the surface. This makes the socket suitable for healthcare facilities, commercial kitchens, schools and other environments where surface hygiene is critical.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The 9mm faceplate projection from the wall is measured from the face of the wall, not the back box, so total built-out depth including the wall finish is 9mm once installed.
