Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 4-gang 2-way toggle switch controls four separate lighting circuits from one plate, each rated at 10A (2,300W maximum per gang). The 2-way configuration allows each circuit to be operated from two locations, so the same light fitting can be controlled from either end of a room, hallway or stairwell. The brushed chrome faceplate is cut from 2.5mm-thick 201 stainless steel, giving an ultra-low profile that sits close to the wall once fitted.
Designed for rooms with multiple lighting zones — through lounges with separate overhead and side lighting, kitchens with island and perimeter lights, or long hallways where two-way control allows switching at both ends without back-tracking. The 87.5mm x 147.5mm plate replaces a standard 4-gang mounting box and requires a minimum 16mm back box depth for safe installation. Each toggle switch operates independently, so different circuits can be on or off at the same time.
The brushed chrome finish is applied to the entire 201 stainless steel plate, not just a coated surface layer, so light surface marks can be polished out if needed over the 25-year guarantee period. The flat-plate design sits 21.1mm proud of the wall when fitted, with a 14.8mm recess into the back box. The switch mechanism is gasket-supported behind the plate to reduce contact noise and improve tactile feedback when the toggle is flipped.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way mean?
2-way switching allows the same light circuit to be controlled from two different locations. Each gang on this plate operates independently as a 2-way switch, so you can install a matching switch at the other end of a hallway or room to control the same lighting circuit from either position.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm mounting box depth is needed. The plate recesses 14.8mm into the box and projects 21.1mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of 35.9mm.
What load can each gang handle?
Each gang is rated at 10A on 230V, which equals 2,300W maximum per circuit. This is sufficient for typical domestic lighting loads including LED, halogen and low-voltage transformer circuits.
Is the plate screwed or screwless?
This is a flat-plate design with visible screw fixings at each end of the plate. For a screwless version in the same finish, see Knightsbridge's screwless range where the faceplate clips onto a separate sub-frame.
