Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch controls two separate lighting circuits from two locations, housed behind a white square-edge faceplate with a 9mm projection. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W per gang, making it suitable for standard domestic lighting circuits including multiple LED fittings, halogen downlights and traditional filament bulbs.
Designed for 2-way circuits where a single light or group of lights needs to be controlled from two different switch positions, such as opposite ends of a hallway, top and bottom of a staircase, or either side of a bedroom. The square-edge design sits flush to the wall without a raised border, giving a clean architectural finish that works in both contemporary and traditional interiors. The white thermoset resin construction includes anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and healthcare environments where surface hygiene matters.
The 16mm minimum back box depth requirement makes this switch compatible with shallow plasterboard walls and stud partitions where deeper metal boxes cannot be accommodated. The thermoset resin faceplate resists impact, heat and UV discolouration better than standard plastic switches, and the included screw cap covers hide the fixing screws for a seamless finish once installed. The switch carries a 25-year warranty and is certified to EN 60669-1 for electrical safety.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between 1-way and 2-way switching?
A 2-way switch allows a light to be controlled from two different locations, such as the top and bottom of a staircase. A 1-way switch only controls from a single location. This is a 2-gang 2-way switch, meaning it has two separate switches on one plate, each capable of controlling a light from two positions.
What back box depth is required?
This switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth, making it suitable for shallow plasterboard walls and stud partitions. The 9mm projection of the faceplate adds to the overall depth from the wall surface.
What does 10AX rating mean?
10AX means the switch is rated for 10 amps at 230V, which equates to a maximum load of 2,300W per gang. This is suitable for standard domestic lighting circuits including LED, halogen and filament bulbs.
What are the anti-microbial properties for?
The thermoset resin material is treated with an anti-microbial agent tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface. This makes the switch suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, healthcare facilities and other environments where hygiene is a priority.
