Description

This Knightsbridge 10AX 1 gang 2-way architrave switch is designed for narrow wall sections and tight spaces where a standard-width switch cannot fit. The plate measures 33mm wide and 86mm tall with a 9mm projection, allowing it to mount flush against door frames, architraves, and slim wall sections without protruding into the opening. The switch is rated at 10AX, supporting lighting circuits up to 2,300W on 230V mains.

The 2-way switching configuration allows the switch to control the same light from two separate locations, pairing with another 2-way switch elsewhere in the circuit. This makes it suitable for hallways, staircases, and rooms with multiple entry points. The white thermoset resin construction carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on high-touch surfaces in shared or high-traffic environments.

The 9mm square edge plate includes screw cap covers that hide the fixing screws once the switch is installed, giving a cleaner finished appearance. The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth, which is shallower than standard switches and accommodates installation where stud depths or wall cavities are restricted. The IP20 rating confirms it is suitable for dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked

What is an architrave switch used for?

Architrave switches are designed for narrow wall sections where a standard switch will not fit, such as next to door frames, on slim partition walls, or in shallow alcoves. The 33mm width of this switch allows it to mount in spaces as narrow as a typical architrave moulding.

What back box depth is required?

The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth. This is shallower than standard switches, making it suitable for installation where stud walls or masonry cavities have limited depth.

What does 2-way switching mean?

A 2-way switch can control the same light from two different locations when paired with another 2-way switch in the circuit. This is commonly used in hallways and staircases where you need to turn a light on at one end and off at the other.

Are screw caps included?

Yes. The switch includes screw cap covers that hide the fixing screws once installation is complete, giving a cleaner appearance on the wall.
