Description

The Knightsbridge CU1000 is a 10AX 1-gang 1-way light switch with a 7mm white thermoset resin faceplate featuring gently rounded edges and an anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011. The 10AX rating handles lighting circuits up to 2,300W on 230V mains, covering most residential and light commercial lighting installations. The 1-way switching configuration controls a single lighting circuit from one switch location.

Designed for residential, office and healthcare settings, the switch fits a standard 16mm minimum back box depth and uses screw cap covers to hide the fixing screws once installed, giving a clean finished appearance on the wall. The rounded edge profile softens the transition between the switch plate and the wall surface, reducing the visual and physical sharpness of traditional square-edge plates. This makes the switch suitable for corridors, children's rooms, care homes and other environments where sharp corners are best avoided.

The white thermoset resin construction provides durability and colour stability under typical indoor UV exposure, while the anti-microbial coating reduces bacterial growth on the switch surface between cleaning cycles. The coating is independently tested to ISO 22196:2011 standards, making the switch a practical choice for kitchens, bathrooms, clinical spaces and high-touch commercial environments. What does 1-way switching mean?

A 1-way switch controls a lighting circuit from a single switch location. If you need to control the same light from two different positions (e.g. top and bottom of stairs), you need 2-way switches instead.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed. The 7mm projection of the faceplate means the total projection from the wall is approximately 7mm once installed.

What does the anti-microbial coating do?

The coating reduces bacterial growth on the switch surface between cleaning cycles. It is independently tested to ISO 22196:2011, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, healthcare environments and other high-touch areas where hygiene matters.
