Description
The Knightsbridge GDF001F is a 1-2 gang grid mounting frame designed to sit behind Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metalclad grid faceplates, holding one or two 25mm grid modules in place. The frame is stamped from premium-grade steel with a galvanised finish and measures 79.5mm wide by 67.5mm high, projecting 8mm from the wall once fitted into a back box.
Used in modular grid installations where the socket or switch configuration needs to be built from individual modules rather than fixed gang plates, the frame fixes to a standard back box using the mounting lugs and screws visible at left and right. Grid modules (sold separately) then clip into the apertures on the frame, and a separate faceplate covers the entire assembly. This allows electricians and installers to configure mixed functions — dimmer + socket, data + TV, two light switches — within a single gang position.
The steel construction provides the structural rigidity needed to support heavier grid modules such as dimmer units or USB sockets without flexing behind the faceplate. The frame includes an earth terminal for safe grounding, and the IP20 rating suits all standard indoor dry locations. Knightsbridge backs the frame with a 25-year warranty, reflecting the expected lifespan in residential and commercial installations.

Frequently Asked
What faceplate ranges is this frame compatible with?
The GDF001F works with Knightsbridge Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metalclad grid faceplates only. It is not compatible with standard screwed or screwless socket faceplates from other Knightsbridge ranges.
How many modules does it hold?
The frame holds one or two 25mm grid modules. Each module occupies one position within the 79.5mm width, so a single switch module and a single dimmer module would fully populate the frame.
What back box depth is required?
A standard 25mm back box is typically sufficient for the frame plus most grid modules. Deeper modules such as dimmers or USB sockets may require a 35mm or 47mm back box — check the specification of the modules you plan to use.
Can the modules be changed after installation?
Yes. Grid systems allow modules to be removed and replaced without removing the mounting frame or faceplate, making it straightforward to reconfigure a switch position as room usage changes.
