Description

Small in scale and warm in tone, this is one of the neater ways to bring light down to worktop or bedside height. The body measures 11cm across in a French gold finish, and it arrives as the frame, so the shade is yours to choose. A G9 capsule of up to 10W sits inside, which keeps the lit part modest.

We use pendants this size where a single big fitting would crowd a room: spaced along a kitchen island, hung either side of a bed, over a hall table, or dropped into a stairwell where the ceiling runs high. Grouped, they read as a line of small points rather than one bright mass, which suits open-plan kitchens and long dining tables. The suspension gives up to five metres of drop, which covers tall halls and landings as well as ordinary rooms. It will dim, though you will need a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer, and neither comes in the box. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom or a porch asks for something sealed.

The frame is slim and the plating even, with the French gold reading warmer than nickel or chrome and softer than a bright brass. Clean it cold and switched off: a dry cloth over the plating is enough, and damp cloths or sprays will dull it in time. It carries a one year warranty. The range runs through several other finishes, among them satin black, polished nickel, aged pewter and satin white, and there is a version taking a larger E27 lamp if a bigger shade is what you have in mind. Supplied as a frame, the shade choice stays open, so you can match something you already own or start again. Lamps are not included.
