Description

A small pendant with a body just 11cm across, finished in aged pewter for a soft grey metal tone that reads warmer and quieter than chrome. It is supplied as a frame, so the shade is chosen separately and the finished look is yours to set. The suspension is generous, letting the fitting hang low in a tall room and shorten right up where the ceiling is closer, with a full extension of five metres to play with.

We reach for this one over a kitchen island, in a stairwell, or in a hallway with a high ceiling, where a long drop earns its keep. Hung in a line it suits a run of worktop; on its own it sits happily beside a bed, in a snug or above a console table. It takes a G9 capsule, and we would fit an LED here for the low running cost and the cool, compact body. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, both chosen to work together.

The metalwork is double insulated, and the aged pewter has a slightly worked, lived-in depth rather than a bright mirror shine, so fingerprints and the odd smudge go largely unnoticed. To keep it looking right, switch off at the wall and go over the body and the suspension with a dry duster, leaving sprays and metal polishes well alone, as they flatten an aged finish. Wiring is for indoor rooms on an ordinary household supply. It carries a one year warranty. The same small pendant runs through the range in other finishes, including polished nickel, satin black, antique copper, brass gold and satin white, with an E27 version for anyone wanting a larger lamp and shade. Lamp and shade are both bought separately.
