Description

Small, plain and gold: this is a single pendant body just 11cm across, finished in French gold and hung on a long single flex. It comes as a frame only, so the shade is chosen separately and can be anything from a small glass dome to a fabric drum. Nothing about the body competes with the shade you put on it. The lampholder is E27, and the flex allows a drop of up to 5m, shortened as needed. With a suitable lamp and a compatible dimmer, it dims.

We would use it in a run over a kitchen island or a long table, where several matching bodies hung at the same height read as a single line rather than a scatter of separate lights. The long flex also earns its keep in a stairwell or a room with a tall ceiling, bringing the light down to where it is wanted. Because the shade is your decision, it suits anyone working to a look already in the room, or reviving a shade they would rather keep. It is one we reach for where a bigger fitting would crowd the space. Lamps up to 20W are accepted, which is ample for LED.

The body is compact and unfussy, and the French gold finish has a soft warm tone that sits well against cream, oak and deep green. Dust it with a dry, soft cloth, and keep polishes and sprays away from the finish itself. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same body with an E27 lampholder in antique brass, antique copper, aged pewter and black chrome, and in a G9 version that includes this same French gold, so a hallway, kitchen and landing can be drawn from the one range. Shade and lamp are both chosen separately.
