Description

This is the suspension and lamp holder on its own, a frame ready to take whichever shade you choose to hang from it. The body measures 11cm across and comes with a generous 5m of flex, so the height is yours to set rather than settled for you. Antique copper gives it the softened, slightly darkened look of metal that has been handled for a while, warm without being shiny, and it reads quietly against a plain fabric shade or a glass one.

We reach for this where the drop matters more than the fitting itself: above a kitchen island, down a tall stairwell, or in pairs either side of a bed instead of table lamps. It takes a single E27 lamp, and with that much flex supplied it copes with high ceilings and galleried landings as easily as an ordinary room. Dimming is possible if you pair a compatible lamp with a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with it. Which lamp suits best depends on the shade you put over it, so a warm LED globe of modest output is the sensible starting point.

It is double insulated, and it belongs in dry rooms indoors rather than anywhere exposed to weather or shower steam. A dry duster now and then is all the finish asks for; skip metal polish and sprays, because an antiqued surface is meant to keep its variation rather than come up bright. It carries a one year warranty. The same body is stocked in other finishes, including antique brass, aged pewter and black chrome, and there is a G9 version if you would rather have a smaller lamp tucked inside the shade. Lamps and shades are not included.
