Description

This is a small suspension body in antique brass, 11cm across, made to be finished with a shade of your own choosing. The lampholder takes an E27 lamp, and the drop runs long: up to 5m of cable to set at whatever height a room needs. It is sold as a frame, so the character comes from the fitting above and whatever you hang below it.

Long drops earn their keep in stairwells, over kitchen islands, in double-height hallways and above a dining table where the light wants to sit low. We reach for this one when a fixed-length pendant would leave the lamp stranded halfway up the room, and it suits anyone who already has a shade in mind, or who wants to change shades later without changing the fitting. Repeated in a line along a worktop, with matching shades, it reads as a set rather than a row of odd pendants. With a suitable dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, the light can be taken down low of an evening.

The body is finished in antique brass, warm and softened rather than bright, so it sits comfortably with older timber and painted joinery. Keep a dry cloth to hand for dust on the brass, and leave polishes and cleaning sprays out of it, since they flatten an aged finish quickly. The E27 holder will take up to 20W, and we would fit an LED, matched to whichever shade you settle on. The same body appears elsewhere in the range in antique copper, aged pewter and black chrome, and in a G9 version for a smaller lamp. It carries a one year warranty. Neither shade nor lamp is included.
