Description

Small pendants earn their keep where a broad shade would crowd a room, and this one measures just 80mm across. The body is a touch taller than it is wide, narrowing to a slim ceiling cup, and the flex can be set short or long at fitting so the light sits at the height you want. A G9 capsule goes inside, and dimming is possible where both the lamp and the dimmer are suited to it.

We reach for these in a row above a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, spaced evenly so the light lands on the worktop rather than in your eyes. On its own it works beside a bed in place of a table lamp, at the turn of a landing, or over a console table in a narrow hall. The small opening sends light down in a fairly tight pool, so it suits task spots and reading corners better than general room lighting; where you need the whole space lit, put something broader on the ceiling alongside it. Keep it to dry interior rooms, away from bathroom zones.

French Gold is a warm, softly yellowed gold that sits happily against pale plaster, deep green and older timber, and it nods to kitchen brassware without trying to match it. Dust with a dry cloth, and if fingerprints show around the ceiling cup, a barely damp cloth will lift them; let it dry fully before the power goes back on. It carries a one year warranty. The same pendant is stocked in satin black, polished nickel, antique copper and aged pewter among other finishes, so a run over an island can be matched exactly or mixed on purpose. Lamps are not included.

Switch the power off first, then wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid cream cleaners and anything abrasive, as they will dull the plated surface.
