Wick G9 Pendant Light 80mm Dia 1.7m Drop - Black Chrome

Small, spare and quietly reflective, this pendant puts a compact plated body on a long flex and lets the lamp do the talking. The shade measures 80mm across, so it takes up very little visual room, while the black chrome plating shifts between near graphite and a bright mirror depending on what sits around it. It takes a G9 capsule, which is what keeps the whole fitting so contained. Fully extended, the drop reaches 1.675m, which gives real scope for hanging it low over a worktop or bringing it down beside a bed.

We reach for this one where a wider shade would crowd a space: in a row along a kitchen island, in pairs over a breakfast bar, or on its own above a stairwell return. It suits flats, box rooms and hallways where a broad pendant would simply be in the way, and it works well as a bedside light when floor space is short. With a suitable lamp and a compatible dimmer it will dim, though neither is supplied. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom zone or a covered porch asks for something properly sealed.

The plated body is double insulated, and the finish asks for nothing more than an occasional pass with a dry duster to keep the reflection clear. Sprays and metal creams do plating no favours, so leave them in the cupboard. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same pendant in satin black and satin white, in polished nickel, satin nickel and aged pewter, and in antique brass, antique copper, brass gold and French gold, so a set can be matched or deliberately mixed. There is also an E27 version of the same body if you would rather run a larger lamp. Lamps are not included.

Which lamp does it take?

A G9 capsule, rated up to 10W. An LED capsule is the sensible choice here, and lamps are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit a dimmable G9 capsule and pair it with a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamp nor the dimmer comes with the pendant.

How low will it hang?

The drop adjusts between 250mm and 1675mm, so it covers everything from a tight ceiling to a long run over an island.

What size is the fitting itself?

The shade is 80mm in diameter with a body height of 150mm, and the whole thing weighs just 0.27kg.

How should the black chrome be cleaned?

Switch off at the wall and let things cool, then wipe with a soft dry cloth. Polishes and abrasives will haze the plating.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means dry indoor rooms only, well away from steam and splashes.
