Description

This is a small, honest suspension in satin nickel: a slim ceiling plate, a length of flex and a plain lampholder, with the body measuring 10cm across. The plating has a soft brushed lustre rather than a mirror shine, so it sits quietly against pale or dark ceilings and does not throw hard reflections. It takes an E27 lamp and the flex can be set shorter at the ceiling, which means the hanging height is yours to decide. We think of it as a starting point as much as a finished light, since it pairs happily with a shade of your choosing or with a decorative filament lamp left on show.

It suits kitchens, snugs, hallways and bedsides, and it is one we reach for when someone wants a run of small lights over an island or a breakfast bar without a heavy frame overhead. Hung low over a dining table it gives a warm pool of light; hung higher with a wide shade it will cover a good deal more floor. Because the maximum lamp rating is modest at 20W, an LED is the sensible choice here, and the fitting will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer.

The metalwork is plated and double insulated, so it needs no earth connection. Keep the finish looking right by switching the power off and going over the plate and holder with a dry duster now and then; plated surfaces dislike cream cleaners and anything abrasive, so leave those well alone. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same body with an E27 holder in antique brass, antique copper, aged pewter and black chrome, and there are G9 versions in a wider spread of finishes again if you want something smaller in scale. Lamp and shade are bought separately.
