Wick E27 Pendant Light 10cm Dia 1.7m Drop - Antique Brass

Wick is a compact pendant suspension: a slim brass body 10cm across and 14cm tall, hung on flex that can be set anywhere up to 1.5m. The antique brass finish has the softened warmth of older metalwork rather than a bright polish, so it sits happily with wood, painted timber and warm plaster. It takes an E27 lamp, which leaves the choice open: a clear filament lamp on show, or a shade of your own picking above it. It is double insulated, and dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer.

We reach for small pendants like this where a bigger shade would crowd the room: in a row over a kitchen island, either side of a bed in place of table lamps, or above a console in a hallway. The narrow body keeps sightlines clear, so a run of them across a worktop reads as a line of light rather than a row of obstacles. It suits anyone who likes to finish a fitting themselves, since the shade and the lamp are yours to choose. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, on an ordinary household circuit.

The body is finished in antique brass throughout, and light enough that it hangs without visual weight. Dust it with a dry duster when you dust the room; if fingerprints show on the brass, a barely damp cloth followed by a proper dry will lift them, with the power off and the lamp cold. It carries a one year warranty. What lamp does it take, and how powerful can it be?

One E27 lamp, up to 20W. An LED is the sensible choice, and the right shape depends on whether you leave the lamp bare or fit a shade over it.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable between 200mm and 1500mm, so it can sit close to the ceiling or drop well down over a worktop or bedside.

How big is the pendant body itself?

100mm in diameter and 140mm tall, which keeps it discreet even in a small room or a low hallway.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the pendant.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry rooms away from splashing and steam.

How should I clean the antique brass?

Switch off at the wall first. A dry duster is usually enough; for marks, wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid polishes and abrasives, which will cut through the aged finish.
