Description

A short graphite cylinder that sits close to the ceiling and sends its light straight down, this is about as compact as a ceiling light gets while still taking a full size screw fit lamp. The body measures a little over 11cm across, so from below it reads as a neat dark disc rather than a fitting asking to be looked at. It runs on an E27 lamp, and we would fit a GLS A60 LED here, up to 20W. Dimming is possible where both the lamp and the dimmer are chosen for it.

Because it is sealed against dust and splashing water, it earns a place in rooms where plainer fittings get turned away: above a shower area, over a basin, in a utility or boot room, or in a sheltered spot by a back door. The narrow body also suits low ceilings and tight landings, where anything deeper would be in the way. It is one we reach for when a customer wants directional light in a small footprint and does not want a shade or a diffuser in the picture.

The graphite finish is dark and even, and it hides fingerprints and steam marks better than a pale one would, which is part of why it works so well in a bathroom or kitchen. To clean it, switch off at the wall, give the lamp time to cool, then wipe the body with a barely damp cloth and dry it off; keep scouring pads and bathroom sprays away from the finish. It carries a two year warranty. The same graphite runs across the Volcano wall lights, so ceiling and walls can be matched in a shower room or along a hallway without hunting for a near enough shade of grey. Lamps are not included.
