Description

This VGA to HDMI adapter kit converts analogue VGA video and 3.5mm audio signals into a single HDMI output supporting resolutions up to 1080p Full HD. The kit comprises a VGA male connector, a 3.5mm audio jack input, an HDMI female socket and a micro USB power input, all housed in a compact 260 x 40 x 15mm converter box with a 15cm integrated VGA cable.

Designed for connecting older laptops, PCs and presentation equipment with VGA output to modern HDMI-compatible displays, projectors and televisions, the adapter requires active power via the included micro USB cable to perform the analogue-to-digital conversion. The VGA side accepts standard 15-pin D-sub connectors carrying RGB video, while the 3.5mm jack input captures stereo audio that is then embedded into the HDMI stream. You will need a separate HDMI cable to connect the adapter's HDMI socket to your display.

The converter handles standard VGA resolutions including 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x720 and 1920x1080, automatically detecting the input resolution and scaling to match the display's native resolution where needed. The micro USB power cable can be powered from a USB port on the source device, a USB mains adapter, or a USB power bank. At 50g total weight, the adapter sits behind a display without strain on the HDMI socket and is suitable for fixed installation or portable presentation use.

Does this adapter require external power?

Yes. The kit includes a micro USB cable that must be connected to a USB power source (USB port on a PC, USB mains adapter, or power bank) to perform the analogue-to-digital conversion. Without power the adapter will not output a signal.

What cables are included in the kit?

The kit includes the converter unit with an integrated 15cm VGA cable and a micro USB power cable. You will need to supply your own HDMI cable to connect from the adapter's HDMI socket to your display, and a 3.5mm audio cable if your source device has a separate audio output.

Will this work with a MacBook or older laptop?

Yes, provided your laptop has a VGA output port. Most laptops built before 2012 included VGA output. If your laptop only has HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C output, this adapter is not suitable.

Does the adapter support audio?

Yes. The 3.5mm audio input on the converter accepts stereo audio from a headphone or line-out socket, which is then embedded into the HDMI output stream. If your VGA source device has no separate audio output, the HDMI stream will carry video only.
