Description

The Vela is a 2 light crystal wall light built around a polished chrome frame with curved arms that each hold an E14 candle bulb socket. Two crystal sconces sit beneath the bulb holders, and cascading faceted crystal droplets hang from the frame on chains, refracting light across the wall when the bulbs are lit.

Designed for living room feature walls, dining room alcoves, hallways and bedroom accent lighting, the Vela provides decorative rather than task lighting. The 280mm width and 400mm height suit walls where a single statement piece is needed without dominating the space. The 170mm projection means the fitting stands clear of the wall, allowing the crystals to catch light from multiple angles. Most users fit the Vela in pairs on either side of a fireplace, mirror or doorway to create symmetry.

The polished chrome finish reflects surrounding light and pairs with both traditional and contemporary interiors that carry silver, chrome or cool-toned metallic accents. The crystals are cut with inward facets that create depth and sparkle under both natural daylight and artificial light. Each fitting weighs 1.5kg, which requires secure fixings into masonry or onto a solid wall rather than plasterboard alone. The wall light is dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 candle bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch (bulbs and dimmer sold separately).

The Vela takes two E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs, up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K to pair with the crystal and polished chrome.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself supports dimming but requires both components to function correctly.

What wall fixings are needed?

The fitting weighs 1.5kg, so it requires secure fixings into masonry (brick, block, concrete) or onto a solid wall using appropriate wall plugs and screws. Plasterboard-only walls need reinforcement or a mounting plate behind the plasterboard before installation.

How is the crystal cleaned?

The crystal droplets can be wiped gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For more thorough cleaning, remove the droplets from their chains (they typically hook on) and clean individually with a barely-damp cloth and distilled water, then dry completely before re-hanging. Avoid chemical sprays or polishes.
