Vado 5 Light Crystal Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome

The Vado is a 350mm semi-flush ceiling light with a slightly flattened sphere formed from hundreds of faceted crystal beads strung on a wire frame, suspended 420mm below ceiling level by a polished chrome stem. Five G9 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the crystal sphere, each housed in a polished chrome fitting that reflects light back through the faceted beads.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.3m and 2.6m where a full pendant would hang too low, the semi-flush configuration keeps the fitting close to the ceiling while the crystal sphere provides enough projection to cast light downward and outward. The 350mm diameter suits entrance halls, bedrooms, compact dining rooms and landing areas where a central decorative fitting is needed without dominating the space. The polished chrome stem and fittings pair with both contemporary and traditional interiors, depending on bulb choice and surrounding furnishings.

Each crystal bead is precision-cut with multiple facets that refract and scatter light when the bulbs are on, creating shifting patterns across the ceiling and upper walls as the crystals catch different angles of light. The combined weight of the crystal beads, chrome frame and fittings totals 3kg, requiring a secure ceiling fixing into a joist or rated ceiling anchor. The polished chrome finish shows fingerprints during installation but cleans easily with a microfibre cloth once fitted.

What bulbs does the Vado take?

The fitting takes five G9 capsule bulbs, maximum 33W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient lighting, or choose dimmable G9 LEDs if fitting to a dimmer circuit.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 420mm total drop from ceiling to base of the crystal sphere makes the Vado appropriate for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.3m and 2.6m. Below 2.3m the fitting may feel visually dominant; above 2.6m a full pendant would typically be more suitable.

Can it be dimmed?

The fitting itself is dimmer-compatible, but dimming requires dimmable G9 LED bulbs and a compatible LED dimmer switch. Not all G9 LEDs dim smoothly — check bulb specifications before purchasing if dimming is required.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool fully. Use a dry, soft microfibre cloth to wipe each crystal bead individually. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners that may leave residue on the faceted surfaces.
