Description

The Utah is a 250mm square outdoor flush ceiling light with a white powder-coated aluminium frame surrounding a frosted white polycarbonate diffuser, housing two E27 bulb fittings inside a sealed IP65-rated enclosure. The 100mm depth keeps the fitting close to the ceiling while the cuboid profile creates an even spread of light across the underside and sides of the box.

Designed for covered outdoor areas where ceiling mounting is practical and weather protection is needed, the Utah suits porch ceilings, patio canopies, covered walkways, garden room ceilings and outdoor seating areas under pergolas. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposure to rain and hose-down cleaning, though it is not designed for submersion. The two E27 sockets allow for balanced left-right light distribution across the 250mm width.

The white finish is a neutral powder coat applied to the aluminium frame, creating a clean backdrop that pairs with white-painted ceilings, light-coloured render, timber cladding and modern brick or stone exteriors. The frosted polycarbonate diffuser softens the direct glare from the bulbs and spreads the light evenly without visible hot spots, creating usable ambient light for outdoor movement and evening gatherings rather than dramatic accent lighting. At 1.18kg the fitting has enough weight to feel substantial during installation but remains light enough for ceiling mounting on typical outdoor ceiling substrates.

The E27 sockets accept standard screw-fit bulbs up to a combined wattage suitable for outdoor use — most installations pair the Utah with two 6-10W LED E27 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for comfortable outdoor ambiance, or daylight white (4000K-5000K) where task visibility is the priority. The fitting is not dimmable, so bulb wattage and colour temperature are the only variables for adjusting light output and tone.

The fitting takes two standard E27 (Edison screw) bulbs. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair the Utah with two 6-10W LED E27 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for outdoor ambiance, or daylight white (4000K-5000K) for task lighting.

Can it be used in fully exposed locations?

The IP65 rating protects against rain and dust, but the fitting performs best under some form of cover (porch ceiling, patio canopy, pergola). Fully exposed locations subject the fitting to more UV degradation and temperature cycling, which may reduce the lifespan of the polycarbonate diffuser over time.

Is the fitting dimmable?

No. The fitting itself is not dimmable. If dimming is needed, you would need to use dimmable E27 bulbs on a compatible outdoor-rated dimmer circuit, but this is not a standard use case for outdoor ceiling fittings.
