Description

This is a plain frosted acrylic panel in opal white, 60cm across and slim in section, with an antique brass centre detail at its middle. The frosting is even, so light passing through it comes out soft and spread rather than pinpointed, and the brass gives the broad white face something to gather around. It is a universal part rather than a component made for one model alone, which is why we stock it under accessories: it carries no lamp of its own and takes its light from the fitting it serves.

We reach for one of these where a large ceiling light throws more glare than a room wants, so kitchens, hallways, landings and bedrooms, and in rooms with lower ceilings where the light source sits closer to eye level than is comfortable. It also suits anyone whose original panel has yellowed, clouded or cracked over the years and who would rather put the fitting back into service than lose it. The wide face reads best in a generously proportioned room; over a modest hall, one of the smaller diameters tends to look better judged.

Acrylic keeps the panel light in the hand and holds a clean opal tone across its whole width, while the antique brass detail brings a warmer, slightly aged note to the middle. To clean it, wipe with a soft damp cloth and a drop of mild detergent, then dry it off; keep ammonia based glass sprays, solvents and abrasive pads well away, as all three will haze or scratch the surface. The brass centre asks for nothing more than dusting. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same panel in a set of smaller diameters, and the centre detail is also offered in polished chrome, satin nickel and black, along with plain versions with no centre detail, which helps if you are matching several rooms at once.
