Description

A round frosted acrylic disc, flat and slim, with a small black button at its centre to break up the opal white face. Across 40cm it covers a fair span of ceiling, and the frosting spreads the light behind it into an even glow rather than a hot spot. The black centre detail is a neat 45mm, enough to give the plain circle a point of focus without dominating it.

We keep these for the jobs that come up again and again: an older fitting whose original diffuser has cracked or yellowed, or a working light that needs its glare tamed and its lamp screened from view. It suits hallways, landings, bedrooms and kitchens, and it is a sensible choice for rented flats, offices and utility rooms where plain, quiet light is what is wanted. It is intended for dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashing.

Moulded in acrylic and light in the hand, it is far less brittle than glass, so handling it for a wipe over is no drama. The face is frosted right across, opal white by day and softly lit once the light is on, with the black centre reading as a dark dot against it. For cleaning, a soft damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid will lift dust and kitchen film; solvents, alcohol and abrasive creams haze acrylic, so keep those off it. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock the same disc in smaller and larger diameters, and with polished chrome, satin nickel or antique brass centres if black is too firm a contrast, along with plain frosted versions without the centre detail.
