Universal Diffuser 30cm - White & Black

This is a flat, round diffuser panel: frosted opal acrylic across the face, with a neat black disc set at its centre. It measures 30cm across and is slim in section, so it reads as a soft glowing circle rather than a piece of hardware. The frosting spreads light evenly and takes the glare off a lamp sitting behind it, while the black centre gives the face a focal point and quietly hides the middle of the fitting. There is nothing electrical in it and no lamp of its own; the light comes from whatever it sits within.

We reach for these when a diffuser has been cracked, lost in a house move, or simply looks tired against a freshly painted ceiling, and equally when a plain fitting could do with a tidier face. It suits hallways, landings, bedrooms and kitchens, and any dry indoor room where overhead light wants softening. The black centre sits well with dark fittings and with door furniture or handles picked out in darker metals.

Acrylic keeps the weight down and will not chip the way glass can, and the frosted surface holds its colour with use. For cleaning, wipe the face with a damp cloth and a drop of washing-up liquid, then dry it off; solvents, methylated spirit and scouring creams will craze acrylic, so keep them well clear. It carries a one year warranty. The diffuser is 300mm in diameter and 2mm thick, with a centre disc of 45mm. It weighs around 0.12kg.

Does it come with a lamp or any wiring?

No. It is a non-electrical part, so the lamp and control belong to the fitting it sits within.

What colours make up the face?

The main face is opal white frosted acrylic and the small central disc is black.

How should I clean it without marking the acrylic?

Use a damp cloth with a little washing-up liquid, then dry with a soft cloth. Avoid solvents, methylated spirit, glass sprays containing ammonia and any abrasive cream, as these craze acrylic.

Is it made in other sizes with the same black centre?

Yes, a 400mm version with the black centre is offered. Plain versions with no centre detail come in 300mm, 400mm, 450mm and 500mm.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

It is intended for dry indoor rooms only, so we would keep it to hallways, bedrooms, kitchens and living spaces.
