The matt white exterior houses an opal white diffuser inside, softening the light from the four bulbs into diffused ambient illumination suitable for porches, covered patios and entrance canopies.

Rated IP44, the Ufo is protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor locations where direct rainfall does not reach the fitting. The 190mm projection from the ceiling gives clearance for most doorways and covered seating areas without reducing headroom significantly. The four E27 lampholders accept standard screw-fit bulbs up to a combined load appropriate for 220-240V mains supply (see Specification for maximum load).

The polyethylene construction keeps the weight at 3.8kg while providing resistance to UV degradation and temperature variation typical of UK outdoor installations. The overlapping segments create visual depth and shadow lines when lit, contrasting with flat wall surfaces and modern cladding. Can it be dimmed?

Yes, if dimmable E27 bulbs are fitted and paired with a compatible dimmer switch. The dimmer must be suitable for the bulb type (LED dimmers for LED bulbs). The fitting itself does not include dimming electronics.

What fixing method does it use?

The Ufo fixes directly to a ceiling-mounted junction box or base plate via concealed screws. The polyethylene shell clips or screws onto the base once wiring is complete.
