Description

Twist is a floor lamp in opal and black. A slim vertical black stem rising from a flat round black disc base, with four opal glass balls set on it at intervals, each clipped to a short black boss and sitting alternately to left and right so the line reads as a stack rather than a row. The glass is turned with a fine spiral flute, so each ball shows soft diagonal banding. The stem is a plain round tube with no joints along it. The balls are the whole of the ornament and nothing is shaded. It measures 15cm across.

It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in.

The holder is G9 and takes up to 10W each. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so it needs no electrician. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Which bulb does it take?

A G9 lamp up to 10W. Bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the brightness and colour you want.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Does it need an electrician?

No. It comes on a flex with a moulded plug and goes into an ordinary socket.

Does it need an earth?

No. It is class II, double insulated, so it is wired live and neutral only.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
