Tonic 3 Light GX53 Pendant Light 72cm Drop 3000K - Chrome

A slim linear pendant, this one carries three lights in a row along a chrome bar, each sitting behind clear glass. The light is warm white at 3000K, gentle enough to sit over a table without the glare taking charge. Replaceable LED lamps come supplied, so there is nothing to buy alongside it, and they can be changed later rather than the whole fitting being written off. It dims too, given a compatible dimmer.

At 72cm long and narrow across, it works over a kitchen island, a dining table or a breakfast bar, throwing an even wash of ambient light down the length rather than one hot pool in the middle. The drop can be set high or low to suit the room, so it sits happily under a tall ceiling as readily as a flat one. We reach for a linear pendant like this where a row of separate pendants would look fussy over a narrow surface. It suits long tables and open plan kitchens.

Glass and plated metal do the work: a chrome bar with clear glass at each light, kept plain so the fitting reads as a line rather than a cluster of shades. With the power off and the lamps cold, dust the glass with a dry cloth; fingerprints on the chrome lift with a barely damp one, buffed dry after. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathroom steam and anywhere it might get splashed. It carries a one year warranty. It takes three GX53 lamps rated up to 12W each, and LED lamps are supplied with it. They are replaceable, so you can renew them individually in future.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 480mm to 2000mm, which covers everything from a low bar to a high ceiling over a dining table.

What size is the fitting?

It measures 720mm long by 100mm wide, so it reads as a slender bar rather than a bulky shade.

Can I dim it?

Yes. It is dimmable with a suitable dimmer, which is not supplied, so choose one rated for LED loads.

Is the light warm or cool in tone?

Warm white at 3000K, a soft, slightly creamy light that flatters timber, brass and warm paint colours.

How should I clean the glass?

A dry cloth for dust, and a barely damp cloth followed by a dry buff for smears, once the power is off and the lamps have cooled. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams on the chrome.
