Description
The small mushroom bollard in the Taos range is cast in dark grey cement, with a rounded cap spanning 22cm above a short, sturdy stem. The surface is matt and faintly grainy, so it sits in a garden the way a piece of stonework does rather than announcing itself as a light. Its LED and driver are built in, drawing 6.5W and giving a warm white output of 490 lumens. There is no dimming, so a wall switch or an outdoor timer is how it is controlled.
We would use it low down and in numbers: along a path edge, at the turn of a gravel drive, among planting where the cap can clear the foliage, or beside garden steps to pick out the treads. The light falls close to the fitting, marking the route without glare at eye level. Sealed against dust and driven rain, it stays out all year. It is one we reach for on small terraces and courtyards, where a full height post would look too municipal.
Cement gives it weight and a dry, mineral surface that weathers slowly and settles into its surroundings. Keep it clear of soil splash and leaf mould; an occasional sweep with a stiff dry brush, then a wipe with a damp cloth, keeps the cap looking even. The light source is sealed in, so there is nothing to change in normal use. It carries a three year warranty. The same cement finish runs through the range, so we can pair it with the larger mushroom bollard, the matching wall lights or the ground light for a scheme that holds together across a whole garden.

Frequently Asked
How much light does it give?
It produces 490 lumens at 3000K warm white from a 6.5W integrated LED, which is enough to mark a path or bed edge without flooding the area.
What are its dimensions?
The cap measures 225mm across and the bollard stands 210mm high, so it sits well below knee height.
Can it be dimmed?
No, it is a non-dimmable fitting. Switching, timers or a photocell are the practical ways to control it.
Is it suitable for full exposure to British weather?
Yes. It is rated IP65 against dust and jets of water, so rain, wind and garden irrigation are no problem.
Can the LED be replaced?
The LED and driver are integrated and rated for around 30,000 hours, so there is no lamp to change.
Is it offered in a lighter cement finish?
This bollard comes in dark grey cement. Within the same range, the wall light is also offered in white cement.
