Description

Every LED module needs something to feed it, and this is the part that does that work. It is a driver in a round white casing, rated 40W with a 1000mA output, switched on and off rather than dimmed. Output is fixed, so light comes up at full brightness each time the circuit is called. The casing measures 12cm across and keeps a shallow profile, taking up very little room.

We keep this one alongside the Sunset recessed bases, and it is the unit we would choose where an LED source needs its gear sitting away from the light itself. That covers kitchen ceilings, hallways and landings, and display lighting in a study or a small shop fit, anywhere the driver is better kept out of sight. It also works as a straight swap where an older driver of the same rating has failed, which is often the only fault in an otherwise sound scheme.

The casing is finished in plain white and made for dry indoor positions, so a bathroom zone or an open porch calls for something rated against moisture instead. Looking after it asks only that it stays dry and reasonably free of dust; a wipe over the casing when the fitting is next opened up is plenty. It carries a three year warranty. Elsewhere in the Sunset range you will find recessed bases in a run of sizes, offered in black, gold and white, so this driver can sit behind whichever of those finishes you have settled on. The light source itself belongs to the fitting it serves, not to the driver.
