Description

A black LED engine designed to sit down into the ceiling and throw a wide, soft pool of warm white light. Output is 3045 lumens drawn from 40W, and the spread is broad rather than tight, so it washes a room instead of picking out one spot on the floor. Colour rendering is high, which keeps timber, paint and fabric reading true, and the warm tone makes the light feel settled in the evening. The visible aperture is modest, with the fitting measuring 22cm across the body that hides above the ceiling line.

We reach for this where a room needs even, comfortable general light with nothing hanging in the way: kitchens, sitting rooms, bedrooms with low ceilings, landings and hallways. It suits anyone building a scheme in several matched points rather than one central fitting, and the warm tone works well over dining tables and seating. It is for dry rooms indoors, away from splashes and steam, so a shower zone or a covered porch calls for something else. Dimming is possible where a dimmable driver is used, which gives you a low, quiet level for the end of the day.

The engine is finished in black, is double insulated, and pairs with a Sunset recessed base, sold separately; those bases come in black, gold and white if you want the visible trim to match or contrast with the ceiling. Keep it clean by turning the power off at the wall and wiping the trim with a dry microfibre cloth, working around the aperture rather than across the optic; nothing wet and no sprays near the lens. It carries a five year warranty. Because the base is a separate piece, you can pick your aperture size and finish independently of the light itself, which is one of the reasons we like this range for whole-room schemes. The driver is not included.
