Starbeam 12 Light Glass Chandelier - Brass

The Starbeam is a 1200mm diameter chandelier built from hand-blown amber-tinted glass and a brass-finished metal frame, with twelve E14 candle bulbs arranged across sweeping curved arms. Each arm is formed from transparent ribbed glass tubes that taper into tulip-shaped sconces at the bulb holders, with the ribbing catching and refracting light across the entire structure. The central column consists of three stacked blown-glass elements — a flared crown at the top, a ribbed sphere in the middle, and a tapered cone at the base — all suspended from a velvet-covered chain.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height living spaces with ceiling heights of 3m or above, the Starbeam provides both decorative presence and functional illumination across a 12-14 square metre floor area. The 845mm drop (excluding chain) positions the lowest point of the chandelier approximately 2.1-2.3m above floor level when hung at typical heights, keeping the glass arms clear of head height while maintaining visual impact. The twelve E14 bulbs (sold separately) can be fitted with dimmable LED candles to control light levels and reduce energy use compared to traditional halogen equivalents.

The hand-blown glass used in the Starbeam comes from Ideal Lux's Italian production facilities, where each arm and central element is individually formed and finished, so minor variations in the glass thickness, ribbing depth and amber tint occur between pieces. The brass finish on the metal armature provides a warm gold tone that pairs with both traditional interiors and warmer contemporary schemes. The velvet covering on the suspension chain softens the visual transition from ceiling rose to chandelier body and can be removed if a bare chain or rod is preferred. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only.

What bulbs does the Starbeam take?

The chandelier requires twelve E14 candle bulbs, sold separately. Most users fit 4-6W LED candles in warm white (2700K-3000K) for a combined output equivalent to approximately 400-600 lumens per bulb. The fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible LED bulbs and a trailing-edge dimmer.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 845mm drop (excluding chain) works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 3m or above. In a typical dining room installation the chandelier hangs 700-900mm above the table surface, which requires at least 2.7m floor-to-ceiling clearance to avoid the glass arms sitting at head height when standing.

Does the glass vary between individual chandeliers?

Yes. Each glass arm and central element is hand-blown, so the ribbing depth, amber tint intensity and exact glass thickness differ slightly between pieces. This is characteristic of artisan glasswork and not a defect.

How is the glass cleaned?

Wipe the glass arms with a dry microfibre cloth or use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water for stubborn marks. Avoid spraying glass cleaner directly onto the fitting — the liquid can run into the bulb holders and brass metalwork. Clean from a stable ladder or stepladder with the power isolated at the consumer unit.
