Description

The Solum is an 8-light chandelier built around a satin brass frame with a central body and decorative pendants cut from clear crystal. Each of the eight arms extends from the centre in a curved profile, terminating in an E14 bulb holder fitted with a white pleated organza shade. The crystal elements run vertically through the centre column and hang as a pendant beneath the main body, refracting light and adding visual depth when the chandelier is lit.

Designed for dining rooms, living rooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.6m or higher, the 760mm diameter suits tables 1.4-1.8m long and floor areas of 15-25m². The chandelier hangs on a velvet-covered chain that conceals the cable run and adds a textile finish to the upper suspension. The organza shades diffuse the light from each bulb, softening the output and reducing glare while the crystal below reflects and scatters additional light across the room.

The satin brass finish sits between polished and brushed, offering a warm metallic tone with a slight sheen that reflects ambient light without becoming mirror-bright. This pairs well with warm neutrals, deep greens and traditional wood furniture. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations. The chandelier takes eight E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. For soft ambient light most users fit 4-6W LED candle bulbs in 2700K warm white. The organza shades diffuse the light, so higher-output bulbs are not usually needed.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 390mm body height plus chain means the chandelier works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. For dining tables, the chandelier typically hangs 700-850mm above the table surface, which requires a 2.7-2.9m ceiling depending on the drop adjustment.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off at the mains and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe crystal elements with a dry microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners on crystal or the organza shades.
