Description
The Solum is a 12-light chandelier built around a satin brass frame with curved arms extending from a central crystal-cut stem. Each arm holds an E14 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately) covered by a white organza shade, and the brass frame is accented with cut crystal elements and a single crystal drop pendant hanging from the centre. The chain cover is finished in brown velvet, running from the brass canopy to the chandelier body.
Designed for dining rooms, double-height entrance halls and larger living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the 1020mm diameter gives the chandelier substantial presence without overwhelming spaces up to 25m². The 580mm body height allows the fitting to sit 700-900mm above a dining table surface when suspended on a typical chain length. The twelve lights provide distributed illumination across the full diameter of the fitting rather than concentrating light at the centre.
The satin brass finish has a low-sheen surface that reduces reflections compared to polished brass, while the cut crystal elements on each arm and the central stem catch and refract light when the chandelier is lit. The organza shades diffuse the light from each bulb, softening the output and reducing glare when viewed from below. The combination of brass, crystal and fabric gives the fitting a 6.2kg weight, requiring secure ceiling fixing into a joist or reinforced ceiling rose.
The IP20 rating confirms the chandelier is suitable for dry indoor use only. The satin brass will develop a patina over time if not cleaned regularly — this can be maintained with a dry microfibre cloth or restored with brass polish if preferred. The chandelier is dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Solum take?
The chandelier takes 12 x E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulbs at 2700K-3000K for a total output of 48-72W equivalent. The organza shades diffuse the light, so higher-lumen bulbs can be used without glare.
Is it suitable for a dining table?
Yes. The 1020mm diameter suits dining tables from 1.6m to 2.4m in length. The chandelier should hang 700-900mm above the table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. The twelve distributed lights provide even illumination across the table without creating a central bright spot.
Can the chain length be adjusted?
Yes. The chain can be shortened during installation by removing links and concealing the excess cable inside the canopy. The velvet chain cover can be cut to match the adjusted chain length.
How is the brass maintained?
Satin brass develops a natural patina over time. For cleaning, use a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For deeper cleaning or to restore the original finish, a brass polish can be applied to the metal frame — avoid getting polish on the crystal or organza shades.
