Description

This is a small decorative shade accessory in antique brass, shaped to clip over the edge of a fabric shade and add a piece of metalwork where there was only cloth. It measures 60mm across and 220mm from top to bottom, and the profile is shallow enough that it sits close in against the shade rather than standing proud of it. The brass carries an aged tone, warmer across the raised surfaces and darker where the detail falls back, so it reads as older metal rather than bright new work.

We use it to give a plain drum a little more to look at, on a table lamp, a bedside lamp or a hall lamp where the base is quiet and the shade is doing the work. One placed at the front is enough on a small shade; several spaced evenly around the top edge turn a simple cylinder into something more worked. There is nothing electrical about it, so it adds no lamp and no wiring of its own, and the light itself stays entirely with the fitting it dresses.

The finish is the whole point of the piece, so treat it gently: a dry duster is all it wants, and metal polishes or sprays will lift the darker tones the antique effect depends on. Lift it clear before you wash or replace a shade, since it is easier to handle off the lamp than on. It carries a one year warranty.
