Description

A wide, shallow cylinder finished in silver foil, lined in white so the light leaves it clean and even. At 40cm across it reads as broad rather than tall, and the metallic surface catches light along its length instead of gathering it in one bright spot. The sheen is soft rather than mirror-bright, and the pale lining keeps the reflected light from picking up a tint. We reach for it when a room wants a little shine without a bulky shape overhead.

The proportions suit a dining table, a wide hallway, or a generous lamp base where a slimmer shade would look undersized. Being low in height, it gives a broad pool of light rather than a narrow one, which helps over a table or a reading chair. The white lining matters here too, since a dark inner would swallow much of what a modest lamp gives out. It is not wired itself, so the lamp comes from whatever fitting carries it: we would choose an LED GLS in a warm white and stay within the 20W limit, which keeps heat off the lining.

The outer face is a silver leaf laminate over a white inner, so the two colours sit in one panel rather than two loose layers. Keep it clean with a dry, soft brush worked gently around the inside and out, and keep damp cloths and sprays away from the foil, which marks easily. It carries a one year warranty.
