Description

White faux silk over a small oval profile, low and wide, sized to sit on a bedside table without crowding the alarm clock and the glass of water. An oval reads slimmer than a round shade of the same width, and the white laminate lining keeps the colour of the light clean rather than tinting it. The fabric has the quiet sheen that faux silk does well, catching the light along the curved ends and settling to a flat, even white across the straight sides. It is one of the smaller shades we keep, and the shape does its work quietly.

Dual mount, so it suits a table lamp or a hanging flex equally, which is handy if you want a matching pair by the bed, or one on a short drop over a hall table. Golf ball lamps are the right shape for a shade this size, and we would fit an LED golf ball, keeping within 40W. It earns its place in guest rooms, box rooms, narrow landings and on writing desks, anywhere a full sized shade would sit too heavily. A pair also works well on a long chest of drawers, where two small shades look better than one large.

Faux silk collects dust rather than dirt, so a soft brush or the upholstery tool of a vacuum, worked from the top edge down, is usually all it asks for; keep water, polish and sprays off the fabric.
