Serena Oval Lamp Shade 18cm Long Terylene with Cotton - Grey

A small oval in grey faux silk, gently flattened front to back so it sits neatly against a wall or on a shallow bedside table. The weave has a soft sheen rather than a hard shine, and the inside is lined in white laminate, which keeps the light clean and even as it drops onto the surface below. It is a shade on its own, without wiring of its own, so the lamp and the switching come from the fitting it joins.

It suits bedside lamps in a room where a taller shade would crowd the space, a slim console in a hallway, or matching lamps at each side of a bed. The oval shape also earns its keep on a narrow windowsill or a shelf, where a round shade would overhang. We would put a golf ball LED inside, and 40W is the most the shade should ever see. It will sit on a table lamp base or hang from a pendant flex, so it can move around the house as your rooms change.

The grey faux silk is bonded to its white laminate liner, so the outline stays crisp and the seam sits quietly at the back. Keep it dry: a soft brush or a vacuum nozzle held just off the fabric will lift dust, and any mark is better dabbed than scrubbed, since damp can mark the laminate. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same faux silk as round cylinders in two sizes, in black, white, grey and an ivory pearl, and there are organza cylinders in cream and black if you want something more open. No lamp is included.

What are the measurements?

The oval measures 180mm along its longer axis, 110mm across the narrower one, and stands 150mm tall, so it reads as a small shade on a table lamp base.

Will it fit a table lamp and a pendant flex?

Yes. The aperture is stepped at 27/42mm, which covers both a table lamp and a hanging flex, so the same shade can be used either way round the house.

Which lamp should I use with it?

A golf ball LED is the one we would choose, kept to a maximum of 40W. A lamp is not supplied with the shade.

What is the lining?

The inside is a white laminate, bonded to the grey faux silk outer. That white face is what bounces the light back out, so the pool of light stays neutral rather than taking on a grey cast.

How do I clean it?

Dust it with a soft brush, or hold a vacuum nozzle a little way off the surface on low suction. Faux silk does not take kindly to water, so avoid sprays and wet cloths and dab rather than rub at any mark.
