Description

A wide, shallow cylinder in organza, this shade measures 60cm across and stands only 15cm tall, so it reads as a broad band of fabric rather than a deep drum. The soft bronze cloth has a faint metallic warmth to it, closer to old copper than to gold, and the fine weave lets a little light glow through the sides while sending most of it downwards. There is no trim or pattern, which keeps the attention on the colour of the cloth itself.

That low, wide proportion earns its keep over a dining table or a long kitchen island, where a deeper shade would crowd the sightline across the room. It works just as well on a tall floor lamp in a sitting room corner. We reach for it when a room wants presence at eye level without much drop, and we would pair it with a warm white LED GLS lamp in the host fitting, up to 20W. It suits a settled, warm palette: bronze sits happily with walnut, brass and deep greens, and it lifts a magnolia ceiling more kindly than a bright white shade would.

The fabric is fine enough to show its weave once lit, and a colour of this sort is best kept away from long hours of direct sun. Dust it with a soft brush or an upholstery attachment on low suction, working around the shade rather than pressing into the cloth, and keep water and sprays away from it altogether.
