Description

A wide, shallow drum in grey organza, this shade measures 60cm across and only 15cm deep, so it reads as a broad ring of soft fabric rather than a tall column. The weave has a fine, faintly open texture that catches the light across its face and softens the glow passing through it. Grey keeps it quiet against white walls and warmer paint colours alike, and the generous width gives it presence without any sense of bulk.

The proportions do most of the work here. A shade this broad spreads light over a wide area while staying close to the fitting, which suits rooms where a deeper shade would crowd the eye: above a dining table, in a wide landing, or over a low table in a sitting room. It is a shape we turn to when scale is wanted overhead but not length. Being non-electric, it takes its light from the host fitting, and we would choose an LED GLS lamp of up to 20W for it.

It is fabric throughout, in grey, and it belongs in dry indoor rooms well away from steam and splashes. To keep it looking well, dust lightly with a clean soft brush or a vacuum nozzle on its gentlest setting; organza marks if rubbed hard, so leave damp cloths and sprays out of it. It carries a one year warranty.
