Description

A broad, shallow cylinder in black faux silk organza, 45cm across and 15cm deep. The proportions are deliberately wide and low, so it sits as a band of fabric rather than a tall drum, and the organza weave carries a soft sheen that keeps the black from looking flat. It is one of the larger shades in the range, and the scale shows. We reach for this one when a room needs the width of a shade without the height.

It is non-electric, so it pairs with a lamp base or a pendant of your choosing, and takes a GLS shaped LED up to 20W. The wide, low form does well over a dining table, in a hall where headroom matters, or on a floor lamp beside a reading chair. It suits open plan rooms and kitchen dining ends, where a wide shade balances a long table. On a slim table lamp it can read as top heavy, so we would put it with a base that has some weight and presence to it. Larger rooms carry the width more comfortably than small ones.

This is a faux silk organza rather than the real thing, which keeps the colour even and makes it easier to live with. We stock it in black here, which sits well against brass, chrome and painted bases alike. Dust it with a soft brush or a lint roller, and keep sprays and damp cloths off the fabric; dry rooms suit it best. It carries a one year warranty. The same cylinder runs through the range in smaller sizes, in organza in cream and black, and in faux silk fabric in white, grey, ivory pearl and a dual taupe and gold. No lamp is supplied.
