Description

The Selmoor is a large eight light pendant with antique brass plated arms holding a mass of clear glass shards. The shards sit at different angles, so the light breaks up as it passes through and the fitting throws sharp points around the room rather than a flat wash. It is a substantial size at 800mm across, with a drop adjusting between 620mm and 2076mm, which covers a low ceiling and a tall room from the same fitting. Eight E14 lamp holders take bulbs rated up to 40W, and the pendant is dimmable for a lower evening setting.

A fitting this size wants to be the main event in a room. We would hang the Selmoor over a large dining table, in a wide hallway, above a stair landing or in a double height sitting room where 800mm of width has room to breathe. It is not a small kitchen fitting. It has the feel of a chandelier while staying more open and less formal than a crystal frame, and it suits period rooms and larger modern spaces equally. Allow clearance so the lowest shards sit above head height where people walk.

Arms and frame are metal with antique brass plating, warm and gently darkened, which pairs well with dark timber, deep paint and older plasterwork. The glass shards are clear and numerous, and they are the part to keep clean. With the power off and the bulbs fully cool, dust them with a dry microfibre cloth, taking care as the edges are shaped glass.
