Description
Small, portable and free of any cable, this graphite lantern charges from daylight and gives a soft warm white glow at the touch of a finger. The light comes from an integrated LED rated at 3W, so there is no lamp to change or replace. A touch switch on the body handles on and off, and the output is fixed at one gentle level, better suited to evening company than to close work.
We reach for this one where there is no power point and no wish to add one: a garden table, a balcony rail, the top of a few steps, a shelf in a summerhouse. Left in daylight through the day it is ready by dusk, and it lifts and carries as easily as a jug, so it can follow you from the patio to the porch, or come inside on a wet night. Sealed against dust and splashing rain, it is happy left out in the garden and just as at home on a windowsill. That makes it a sensible choice for flats and rented homes as much as for planted courtyards.
The graphite finish is low in shine and sits quietly against planting, brick and pale stone, while the white version does the same job in a brighter key. Cleaning asks very little: a damp cloth over the body when dust gathers, and a wipe across the panel now and then so it takes a full charge on short winter days. It carries a three year warranty. We stock it in graphite and white, with a larger size in both if you want more presence down the length of a table, and two or three grouped at different heights look better than one placed dead centre. The LED is built in, so there is nothing to buy alongside it.

Frequently Asked
How does it charge?
It charges from daylight through its solar panel, so it needs a spot that catches sun during the day. Set it back out after use and it will be ready again by evening.
How bright is the light?
It gives 238 lumens at 3000K, a warm white closer to candlelight than to daylight. It is atmospheric light for tables and steps rather than task light.
Can the brightness be adjusted?
No, it is non-dimmable. The touch switch simply turns it on and off at a single fixed level.
Will the LED need replacing?
No. The LED is integrated and rated at 30,000 hours, so there is no lamp to source or fit.
Can it stay outdoors in the rain?
It is rated IP54, which covers dust and splashing water, so it copes with normal garden weather. It is easy enough to bring in during a prolonged storm or over winter.
Is there a bigger version?
Yes, the same lantern is made in a larger size, in graphite and in white, and the two sizes mix well together.
