Sangamo E854 Round Pattern Digital 7 Day Time Switch - 3 Pin 20A

The Sangamo E854 is a digital 7 day programmable time switch with a round pattern 3-pin connection, rated at 20A for controlling heating systems, immersion heaters, lighting circuits and commercial equipment. The unit supports up to 96 switching operations per day (48 on, 48 off) with independent programming for each day of the week, allowing different schedules for weekdays and weekends.

Designed for installation in consumer units, distribution boards and control panels where automated switching is needed, the E854 fits standard DIN rail or panel mounting configurations via its 3-pin plug-in connection. The digital LCD display shows the current time, programmed switching events and operating mode. A temporary manual override button allows instant switching without altering the stored programme, and a holiday mode suspends all programmed operations until reactivated.

The unit includes automatic BST/GMT changeover, eliminating the need for manual time adjustment twice a year, and a 20-day battery reserve that retains all programmed settings and timekeeping during mains power loss. The 104mm diameter round housing with a white front and black base matches standard control panel aesthetics. The three brass contact pins at the rear provide the electrical connection and mechanical retention when inserted into a compatible socket.

What load can the 20A rating handle?

The 20A rating at 230V supports loads up to approximately 4,600W. This is sufficient for most domestic immersion heaters, small commercial heating circuits, and lighting banks. Check that the connected load does not exceed 20A continuous draw.

Does the battery need replacing?

The internal battery provides 20 days of memory backup during mains power loss. Battery life depends on usage, but typical replacement is needed every 3-5 years. Refer to the product manual for battery replacement instructions.

Can different switching times be set for weekdays and weekends?

Yes. Each day of the week can be programmed independently, allowing separate schedules for Monday-Friday and Saturday-Sunday, or any other combination needed.

What is holiday mode?

Holiday mode suspends all programmed switching operations, effectively disabling the timer without erasing the stored programme. When deactivated, the unit resumes the programmed schedule. This is useful when premises are unoccupied for extended periods.
